What is FAM

Social information.

FAM puts everything you care about in one place, turns it into short audio stories you actually understand, and shows you what your friends are learning, so you are never left out of the conversation.

The problem

The problem with how information reaches us

Three problems compound into one: information isolation. The information you receive isn’t built around you, most of it is built for your eyes, not your ears, and the interests of the people around you are largely invisible.

01

What you know is shaped by what you’re shown.

Every person has a different set of things you care about and are curious about. The industries, teams, places, hobbies, questions, and stories that matter specifically to you.

But the information you receive every day isn’t built around you.

  • News tells everyone what’s important.
  • Social media feeds decide what to put in front of you.
  • Search and AI chatbots wait for you to already know what you’re looking for.
  • Algorithms optimize for what will keep you watching.

You don’t have an information world that belongs to you — shaped by your interests, evolving with your curiosity, and filled with the things you actually care about.

Right now, you live inside everyone else’s information systems. You don’t have your own.

02

The audio problem you don’t realize you have.

There are hours every day when you could be learning about the things you care about — but today’s information systems are designed for your eyes.

  • Driving
  • Walking
  • Working out
  • Getting ready
  • Cooking
  • Commuting

During those moments, your ears are available, but the information you want isn’t designed to reach you that way.

So you either stop what you’re doing and look at a screen, or you simply don’t learn it. We’ve built an information world that competes for your eyes while leaving your ears largely unused.

03

The interests of the people around you are invisible.

What are your friends actually interested in right now? What are they learning about? What rabbit holes have they gone down?

Most of the time, you don’t know. You might discover it because it comes up in conversation, they send you something, or they post about it.

Otherwise, the interests and knowledge of the people around you are mostly invisible to you.

That means you’re constantly missing things you probably would have wanted to know about too.

Two friends can follow each other, hang out every day, and still be shown completely different worlds by two different algorithms. They share the same lunch table, but not the same information.

The result

Information isolation.

Put the three problems together and you get information isolation.

Everyone lives inside their own bubble, and it holds even inside the same friend group. Two people can hang out every day and see the world completely differently, because two different algorithms decided what each of them would see.

They don’t just disagree. They don’t know what the other one knows. And there’s no easy way to bring what each of them has learned into the time they spend together.

Social media connects people. It doesn’t connect what they know.

Social information.

The cure for information isolation.

Social media connects people. Social information connects what they know.

Having access to information and actually knowing something are two different things. Social information isn’t about consuming more. It takes the things you care about and the things your friends are learning, makes them easy to understand and remember, and brings them back into the real world: the lunch table, the group chat, the car ride.

Our story

We believe information can bring people closer.

The idea for FAM grew out of summers we spent living and working together in the forest, where we experienced firsthand how meaningful human connection can be. Coming back to everyday life, we noticed how fragmented everything felt. Our attention, our information, and sometimes even our relationships.

We began to realize that information is one of the ways we understand each other. What someone is curious about, what they’re learning, and what fascinates them tells us something about who they are. And when we share those things, we create more opportunities to connect.

We started FAM with a simple idea: what if the information you cared about could come to you? What began as a way to make information more accessible through personalized audio grew into something bigger.

Today, we’re building FAM around the belief that our information worlds don’t have to exist separately. By bringing together what we know, what we’re learning, and what we’re curious about, we can create more shared understanding and bring people closer together.
